why does the resistance of a wire increases when we increase the temperature

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hey see when we increase d temperature the electrons in the wire gets collided with each other and then heat energy is got from them that is why the resistance increases

OpenStudy (anonymous):

as temp is increased positive kernels also start vibrating so electrons go through a lot more collisions. Therefore their movement tend to become more random.i.e not in direction opposite to electric field inside the material.hence resistance increases. this is valid for normal conductors

OpenStudy (anonymous):

with semi conductors resistance varies diffently with temperature.

When a material is in an excited state, like a conductor in a wire that is very hot, it is essentially less organized at the molecular level. There is less chance for normal, orderly collisions within the valence shell of the atom.
