What editor do you think is best for a linux OS?
emacs
For basic stuff, I go with gedit. Easy to pick up and use, and while it's not as versatile as emacs or vim, it gives you line numbering and syntax highlighting on at least 50 different languages.
The question shouldn't be « what editor is the best for linux », as linux does not care about editor, but wath editor is the best for you ! And we don't know what you're looking for. Basic editor (gedit, based on GTK, as said above does the trick, scite bit more powerfull in the same line) The two big text editor fighting for 20 years knows are emacs and vi(m), they are both very powerful, and surely as good each either. you'll find some "so called IDE" (as vim and emacs does IDE as well) like, eclipse (they do have a python environment) and much others. Google your question and you'll see it's a really commun and endless one (that's why a like the short first answer of this thread) I could go one, but, be more acurate on what you want :) (PS sorry, english in _not_ my mother thong)
mother thong! hahahaha
@agdgdgdgwngo, damn, I google it to try to get this one right! :p
I use vim, as it is used widely in the CS field, and you will likely be given the option to either use it or emacs at a technical interview. gedit and kate are also nice if you are working with a graphical flavor of unix. (a.k.a. Linux), however many workstation servers only have unix installed. So it is a good idea to get used to them. there is a very brief video on how to use vim on my website at http://www.tutorsean.net. If this helps, please choose Good Answer.
try Eric Python, Dr Python
Never heard of Sublime or the Python editors, will have to check them out though. Thanks for the heads up.
