OpenStudy (aravindg):

if m,n are irrational roots of ax^2+bx+c=0,a not qual to 0 (a,b,c belongs to Q) then .....................

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you have choices for this fill in the blank?

OpenStudy (aravindg):

no ithink it is about property of roots

OpenStudy (anonymous):

there are quite a few things that could fill that blank >.< ...they add up to a real number. ...they are conjugates of each other. ...their sum is b/a. ...their product is c/a. gotta be a little specific >.<

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i would imagine the answer you are looking for is the conjugates part.

OpenStudy (aravindg):

ya thx why is it conjugates?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if: \[a+b\sqrt{c}\] is one of the roots, then: \[a-b\sqrt{c}\] has to be the other, because the coefficients of the polynomial were rational, not irrational. When you multiply conjugates, the irrational part disappears.

OpenStudy (aravindg):

so answe is rational conjugates ?

OpenStudy (aravindg):

?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes
