I heard that is is usually a good idea to know the basics of calculus (derivatives, integrals, series, vector calculus, etc.) in order to study linear algebra. Is that true?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no, until u reach advanced topics. eigenvalues, eigen vectors, it will help to understand, but this course builds on the foundations

OpenStudy (anonymous):

True, my Precalculus teacher at my community college taught me some linear algebra stuff like Gaussian Elimination and Gauss-Jordan substitution. That's linear algebra and he thought that it would help to know that kind of stuff.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

linear algebra does not really need integral and derivative, but some basic concepts, like vectors, are recoomended to know
