During a game of miniature golf, Stan compares his scores to Rita's to see who is a better player. Who has an outlier? Stan: 8, 6, 5, 7, 4, 8 Rita: 1, 7, 8, 7, 9, 8 A. both B. Stan C. Rita D. neither

It seems as though Rita does in the score of 1 since it is so different than her other scores.

so which one has the outlier ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The outlier is the "oddball" or anomalous score. Rita's score of 1 doesn't seem to fit with her scores of 7, 8, 7, 9, and 8. Stan's scores, although still variable, are all much closer a measure of central tendency like a mean or median.
