Divide the 2nd equation by 2 to get 3x + y = 6. We can subtract 3x from both sides to obtain y = -3x + 6 This is EXACTLY the same as the first equation. That means that the lines have the same slope, and the same intercept, so they overlap. When two lines overlap, they have infinitely many solutions, since they are identical. Any point on one line also lies on the other.
