When can we have *Elliptic* rainbows ? Rainbows that are ellipses ?

Rainbows are circles. One only sees part of the circle because the horizon gets in the way. If one gets up high enough - such as in a plane - one can see the whole circle. Google and you will find plenty of images I am sure. BTW a circle can be seen as just a special form of ellipse. ie The maths for an ellipse includes the maths for a circle but not the other way around. ;-)
