I answered an almost identical question about two seconds ago: (copied below) If you go to http://www.wolframalpha.com and type solve 0 = 3x^2 + 18x + 22 then click "show steps" it will show you how to complete the square. If you instead type quadratic formula It will give you three little boxes into which you can type the a , b, and c terms. :) Hope this helps.

OH, this is IMPORTANT -- you have to have your equation in the form \(ax^2 + bx +c = 0\) In other words, add that 6 from both sides to get zero!
