OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):
x^2 - 8x -10 = 0
OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):
this cant be factorized.
OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):
a = 1
b = -8
c = -10
insert them respectively,
\[\Huge \frac{-(b) \pm \sqrt{b^2-4ac}}{2a}\]

Devette, all you need to know is:
OpenStudy (anonymous):
\[x=4\sqrt{26},4-\sqrt{26}\]
or
x=9.099019
x=-1.09902

when you can't factor something, as in your case, no two numbers multiply to 10 while adding to 8. So in your case, you need to use the quadratic.

I just don't know how lol

I want to learn it but I just can't grasp the concept

the quadratic is that equation saifoo posted. And your a b and c values are in your equation! the a value is 1 if you just have an x with no coefficient by your first term, and your b value is the coefficient infront of your second x, and your c value is the last number in the equation. This is all horribly general
