Find the x and y-intercepts y=10/7x+8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

slope and y-intercept, sorry

OpenStudy (akshay_budhkar):

shouldn't the x come above in numerator?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that is exactly how the equation is presented

OpenStudy (akshay_budhkar):

it is not a line... you cant get the slope it is a hyperbola

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its asking me to graph the equation using the slope and y-intercept

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If we follow the order of operations, this becomes a linear equation \[y = {10 \over 7} x + 8\] The slope is the 10/7 (think rise/run) and the y -intercept is the 8 or (0, 8) written as a point. PLot the point (0, 8) then from that point "rise 10" and move to the right (run) 7 to find a second point. There is a nice explanation on how to do this kind of work here http://www.purplemath.com/modules/slopgrph.htm look at the second example. OK?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in terms of y set x to 0, then in terms of x set y to 0.
