multiply -2xy(3xy^2+5x^2y-4) (do I add the exponents?)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes multiply each coefficient by -2 and add 1 to each exponent

OpenStudy (anonymous):

satellite is wrong though because you need to foil each set of polynomials for example: xy(xy) is not x^2y^2 it is x^2 +2xy + y^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think satellite is assuming that the OP was going to distribute and was just asking what to do about the exponents.

OpenStudy (akshay_budhkar):

jadler? you r wrong plz know that (xy)xy is x^2y^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so I am thinking my answer is -6x^2y^3-10x^3y^2+8xy

OpenStudy (akshay_budhkar):

yaa twalls you are right!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you again!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-2xy(3xy^2+5x^2-4) your answer is -6x^2y^3-10x^3y+8xy

OpenStudy (akshay_budhkar):
