The graph of the following system of equations is 2x + y = 6 6x + 3y = 18 Overlapping lines Parallel lines Intersecting lines

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y = -2x + 6 y = -2x + 6 Overlapping Lines

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Overlapping

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do you figure that out?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If you can get one of the equations by multiplying the other one by a number they overlap. In this case, the second equation is 3 times the first equation.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

same co-efficient

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Alternatively you can solve for y, and if the equations are the same when you solve for y, they overlap.

OpenStudy (akshay_budhkar):

if you simplify the 2nd equation you get it the same as of the 1st equation.. so they r the same lines...and hence overapping

OpenStudy (akshay_budhkar):

*overlapping

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay, thanks!

yay
