Explain what a domain and range is.

OpenStudy (sburchette):

The domain of a function is all of the x values for which the function is defined. The range is all of the y values for which the function is defined. For example, the domain of f(x)=2x+1 is all real numbers because the function is defined for all of the real numbers. The same is true for the range in that case as well.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the domain is a set of x values in a function that can give a valid y value. range is the y values that can b gained from plugging in x values

OpenStudy (zarkon):

the definition of range will depend on who you ask. It could be the codomain or the image.
