You have 1/4 of a tank of gas and 10 dollars in your wallet. Gas is $2.50/gallon and your car holds 13 gallons. Explain how you would find out how many total gallons you will have in your car after you put in $10 worth of gas

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wish there was a way to search through posts because the wording is identical

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i remember writing "point me to that gas station"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this is really logical stuff though...and i don't even really wanna help with this kind of questioning...this is a life lesson here that you SHOULD definitely know

if you have 10 dollars and go to the pump and it's 2.50 a gallon.....how many gallons can you get?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well if you started with 1/4 tank....how much will you have after your done pumping?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lets write it out in words you spend $10 at $2.50 per gallon, so you have purchased 4 gallons of gasoline since 4 gallons times $2.50 dollars per gallon equals $10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

your gas tank held 13 gallons and was one quarter full. on quarter of 13 is 3 and a quarter \[\frac{13}{4}=3.25\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

add to that the 4 gallons you bought and you get a total of 4+ 3.25= 7.25 gallons
