1 4 7 11 15 19 Clue: It is less than 19. I have no idea what the answer is, and will not know until Monday.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

whats the question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

15?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hah, my bad. What's the next number in the sequence.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i hate these >.> the answer could be anything. Literally.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

true

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And when we find out the answer, it will seem ridiculously obvious.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No no, i mean it really could be anything. Its possible to create an infinite amount of formulas that fit those first 6 terms. Each one will produce a different next term.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Apparently the clue is really helpful.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats why i dont like these anymore.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

got it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

17

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Give me 6 numbers from -5 to 5, and not 0. i'll create a formula that works.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the sequence is the number of letters of the number in word form. "nineteen" has eight letters, while "seventeen" has nine letters

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-5, -4, -3, -2, 5, 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

k, give me 10 mins, gotta do calculations

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ha simple goolgle search its effective

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm confused problemsolver. 1 has 3 letters, but there's no 3 anywhere in the sequence?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh, I think I get you now. One has 3 letters, Four has 4 letters, Seven has 5. So we need to find a number that has 9 letters in it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ya

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have no idea what the answer is, and will not know until Monday. this changed to I have ABSOLUTE idea what the answer is, and know today

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Indeed!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is that? joemath

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its a function of n that for n=1,....,6 will spit out 1, 4, 7, 11, 15, 19.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

kk

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The 7th number isn't less than 19 though!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this is what it looks like:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i know the 7th number isnt less than 19, thats why i dont like these type of questions. Its possible to create an infinite amount of formulas that will match those 6 numbers, but their end behavior is all different.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if i choose numbers other than the ones you gave me, i would get a different result.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah i know i too hate these type of q's

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and how can someone prove that their answer is the true one for the 7th term? what makes their 7th term more valid that any of the other 7th terms that could come up?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is the 7th term according to my formula anywhos? i didnt check lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

91

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lolol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

u have to option , 17 and 21 , but 21 is correct , one (3) four (4) seven (5) eleven (6) fifteen (7) nineteen (8) twenty one (9 alphabet ) , and another reason is , this sequence is ascending, so 21 is correct :)
