Two loudspeakers are placed at either end of a gymnasium, both pointing toward the center of the gym and equidistant from it. The speaker emits 266-Hz sound that is in phase. An observer at the center of the gym experiences constructive interference. how far toward either speaker must the observer walk to first experience destructive interference?

i can do this but its physics question right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ya.. a physics question.. can you help me?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol ill try

OpenStudy (anonymous):

distance might be interms of x is that alright?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh nvm sorry this is uni level question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

joe could help u?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that the one i don't know.. em, it shall use which formula? is it \[\kappa=v/f\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wavelength = velocity of sound in air / frequency

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats wavelength = velocity over frequency i used that but i am not sure what to do

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hmm....this is more of a physics question >.< i would need to know certain formulas. ill see if i can find anything.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol i looked up on wikipedia but didnt help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doppler_effect

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think u have to use this

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okey... i'll try..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know that velocity = (wavelength)(frequency), and the path length difference for the case of destructive interference is =0.5(wavelength).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry u'll have to take it from there

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okey.. got it...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

really was tht helpful?
