5 1/8 + 8 3/4 ?? must be a interger, proper fraction or mixed number.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the answer will be the same , what about it dont you understand?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how did you get 111/8 as the answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Amistre 64...can you come to my questionsss?:P

OpenStudy (amistre64):

i algebra-ed it into submission :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but when i put 111/8 as the answer it says its incorrect

OpenStudy (amistre64):

but that was animproper fraction right?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

we need to convert it to mixed for that answer to take hold

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so i do 111 divided by 8 right?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

lets divide it out 13 7/8 ------ 8| 111 -8 ---- 31 -24 ---- 7

OpenStudy (amistre64):

yes, and when you get to the decimal part, leave the remainder

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so 13 7/8 is the answer?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

as far as i can tell, yes :) what answer do you get to compare with?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got the same thing

OpenStudy (amistre64):

then we are either 2 geniuses, or we are both idiots .. which do you perfer ;)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

genisuses lol

OpenStudy (sasogeek):

i don't get what's going on :/

OpenStudy (sasogeek):

first of all, i don't understand what the question is or what its requirements are... maybe that will help

OpenStudy (amistre64):

adding mixed numerals

OpenStudy (sasogeek):
