Can someone please explain to me things like x is less than equal y? And also y > 3. thanks! (linear inequalities in two variables)

Can you give an example of the question your hung up on?

OpenStudy (chaise):

\[x \le y\] This means that for this to be true, x must be any number smaller than (or equal to) y For example the statement is true when: x = 2 y = 4 x is LESS THAN or equal to y. The statement is also true for: x=2 y=2 Less than OR equal to. \[y >3\] For this statement to be true. y must be any number GREATER then three. You can graph these on number lines using different colours to represent different x/y coordinates. Take a look at this link :) http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=y+%3E+3 Hope I helped. :)
