What is the approximate volume of a cone with a height of 3 meters and base radius of 8 meters? Use 3.14 .

OpenStudy (amistre64):

cones have a volume that is equal to the area of it "base circle" times 1/3 the height

OpenStudy (amistre64):

3/3 = 1 so thats a pointless number :)

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the area of the circle base is: pi r^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

clearly but i need the answer not u telling me what to do i give medals t who give me a answer

OpenStudy (amistre64):

...and i really could care less about medals :)

OpenStudy (amistre64):

im curious tho as to how the area of the cone is equal to the area of the circle base ... it sounds odd to me

OpenStudy (anonymous):

idk bro

OpenStudy (amistre64):

got it, it sounds odd because im comparing meters^2 to meters ^3 which are not the same measure :)

OpenStudy (amistre64):

8^2 (3.14) 64(3.14) .... meters^3 then :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

602.88

OpenStudy (anonymous):

u made me do m

OpenStudy (amistre64):

200.96 sounds better to me tho ;)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

u sure ?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

pretty sure, its what the calculator spit out at me lol
