how do u find the roots of an quadratic equation by factoring

OpenStudy (anonymous):

have any example they work best when explaining

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x^2+4x+4=0 factored into (x+2)(x+2)=0 which means x=-2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohh i remember roots you always set the equations to zero and whatever you get for x is the roots. at least that's what i think the teacher said. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah, for what value of x will the equation equals 0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

k so i just find two numbers that equal the value of x and that equals 0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

not really sure what you meant ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

after factoring, if you get something like this (x-a)(x+b)(x-c)=0 then roots are : a,-b,c

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thanx i think i got it from here

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats wat i was thinking i just need a reminder
