radical equation....square root -4+5u=-1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\sqrt{-4+5u}=-1\]

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

The square root of any nonnegative number is nonnegative. So the square root will NEVER be negative (unless you explicitly place a negative out front) So the equation above is NEVER true for any value of 'u'

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no solution then?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

exactly, there are no solutions

thanks
