OpenStudy (trancenova):

strange, strange, hmmm where did you get the question from? (hopefully a little more context will help)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ground pries are also known as a. lycopsida b. spike mosses c. both d. pteropsida

OpenStudy (anonymous):

please the question is not clear

OpenStudy (anonymous):

check the spelling once. I think the qestion might refer to ground pines instead of ground pries. Reason:- The Lycopsida is divided into three extant orders: *Lycopodiales , *Selaginellales , and *Isoetales. There are two extinct orders: *Lepidodendrales ; and Pleuromeiales, known from the Triassic and intermediate in form between the Lepidodendrales and the Isoetales. The order Lycopodiales contain 2 genera :-Lycopodium (club mosses) and Phylloglossum.Lycopodium is a genus of clubmosses, also known as ground pines or creeping cedar Selaginelles is also called spike moss Isoetales is also called qill worts.

Aster01! You awesome mystery solver you! This has been driving me nuts!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Pteropsida is not usually used anymore and has a lot of extinct members .It happens when you reclassify organisms or their groups , plants have these huge changes that happen comparitively frequenctly when compared to animals. so I think the answer is Lycopsida cause although selaginelles or spike mosses form part of Lycopsida , The genera Lycopodium of the order Lycopodiales which belongs to Lycopsida is usually called gorund pine.
