Write a quadratic equation in the variable x having the given number as solutions. Type the equation in standard for, ax^2+bx+c=0 Solution: 6, only solution.
x = (-b +/- sqrt(b^2-4ac))/2a Do you need help on how this solution was made?

Okay - you have the equation: ax^2+bx+c=0 Lets substitute the coefficients (the numbers infront) with integers and I said the equation you use to solve for x is: x = (-b +/- sqrt(b^2-4ac))/2a 3x^2 + 2x + 10 So in this equation: a = 3 b = 2 c = 10 x = (-b +/- sqrt(b^2-4ac))/2a You substitute these numbers into your equation, you should get two answers. This is called the quadratic formula and is used to solve quadratic equations. It is based on completeing the square. You can get a proof of the quadratic equation on youtube. It takes about 5 mins to explain and hard to do on openstudy.
