simplify a 3/4 * a 1/2 divide by a 5/2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I am confused as to what you have as a problem. Could you write it out better?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3/20a

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[a3/4*a1/2 \div a5/2\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Are the first two fractions in the numerator?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok, so first you are going to multiply the numerator together, just multiply straight across. You can do this because they are being multiplied if it was any other, that is a no no. It should look like this now (3a^2)/(5a/2)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Now you will multiply by the reciprocal. Which will be (3a^2) * (2/5a). and multiply straight across again. Now you should have 6a^2/40a. factor out a 2a. so now we have 2a (3a)/20. This is your final answer

I hope this helps, as long as I did not make a mistake. :)
