how do i completely factor? z^2-13z+36

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(z-4)(z-9)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

One way that I factor is by looking for numbers that will multiply to give me the last number (36) and add/subtract to give me the middle one (-13). Out of the factors of 36 (1,36: 2, 18: 3, 12: 4, 9: 6,6) only 4 and 9 can add to 13.

thanks for the help!

to factor this find two factors of 36 that has the sum of -13 -9*-4 are our factors and equal 36 and -9 + -4 = -13 so those are our numbers now just (x -9)(x - 4)
