well you need to use the order of operations to go about this one. Which is parenthesis, expnents, multiplication, division, addition, subtraction. So you'd start with what's in the parenthesis. Then do out the exponent giving you (8x6)-3^2. Then still in the parenthesis multiply out giving you 48-3^2 After that you can do out the other exponent giving you 48-9=39
