A die is biased so the probability of rolling a 6 is 0.1. if the die is rolled twice what is the probability of getting two 6's?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i get 2 x(0.1 x0.1) but the answer is 0.01

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it's just 0.1*0.1, the chance of one six is 0.1, if you throw another time you must multiplie it by the chance of one six so 0.1*0.1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but u can get (6,6) and (6,6) twice

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no, (6,6) is just one option, you can only get it in one way

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but you have two dies and it can either way isn't it like (4,6) and (6,4)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in your question you have one die. and indeed in that case you have 2 options and 2 ways to get a 4 and a 6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i see thanks :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it has nothing to do with the number of dice. it isn't like (4,6) and (6, 4) because those are two different things whereas (6,6) is one event
