Spoken language features in a political speech?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

equivocation, faulty logic, absurd generalizations and crass appeals to emotive considerations

It depends on the type of the political speech. The United Nations for instance has its own code of how a certain country representative should speak to others at the assembly. Overall, a politician should be diplomatic in his/her speech; the message has to be clear to the audience; pointing out goals of a campaign -for instance; language correctness (very often we encountered politicians from the "top shelf", yet they made irrational sentences, or sentences which were ambiguous). A politician should also be a good rhetorician. To sum up, I came up with: diplomacy; clarity; syntax; good rhetorics (power of persuasion); good arguments. I hope this is what you were looking for.

Thanks for all your help! It's just that I'm writing a 1,200 word essay on 'Spoken Language Features in a political speech' and it's not exactly the words that i have to analyse, it's the features. For example, what is the use of the Micro-pause? Or what is the use of Anaphora? I've gone over 1,200 (but shall need some bits cutting out) but I just need someone to read it and see whether it's okay before I submit as it is 10% of my overall grade. Anyone free/don't mind reading it?

If you want a really good orator, look to Hitler.

^ So true, but I don't understand a word he's saying.
