noww try and get 5x-7 from other part
OpenStudy (anonymous):
take out 2x^2
OpenStudy (anonymous):
2x^2(5x-7) + 9(5x-7)
can you carry on from there?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
I will try .......the gcf is 5x-7 ?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
yes 5x - 7 is common to both parts so whats left goes into another bracket
the final answer is
(5x+7)(2x^2 + 9)
2x^2 + 9 can't be factored any further so thats it

My book says to then factor out the common factor, so would I get 2x^2+9(5x=9)
OpenStudy (anonymous):
oh I see
OpenStudy (anonymous):
ok?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
got it thanks

Hey, how did you get the 9(5x-7)?
Im trying to do another one
x^3+6x^2-7x-42
(x^3+6x^2)-(7x-42)
i got 7(6x-?) is that right so far?
