OpenStudy (pottersheep):

How do I factor -6a^2-a+15? I don't know what do do with the negative that I factor out ! PLeasseee helpp

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-(2a-3)(3a+5)

OpenStudy (pottersheep):

how do I know if the "-" goes in front of

OpenStudy (pottersheep):

(2a-3) or (3a+5) ?

OpenStudy (pottersheep):

:s

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it doesn't matter if 2a or 3a goes first, the negative is applied to the entire equation. (2a-3)(3a+5) = 6a^2+a-15 so the - needs to be put out front because you multiply each variable by it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its like saying -(6a^2+a-15)

OpenStudy (pottersheep):

the answer on my sheet gives only one answer of (5+3a)(3-2a)...which means that applied it to (2a-3)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats right as well just written with the - inside the brackets

OpenStudy (pottersheep):

thank you so much for spending so much time with my question >.<

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no prob good luck with factoring :)

OpenStudy (pottersheep):

would (2a-3) (-3a-5) be right as well?

OpenStudy (pottersheep):

hahaha thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yep

OpenStudy (pottersheep):
