find the polynomial function with leading oefficient 2, degree 3, with -2, 1, and 4 as zeros

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do i do it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[2(x+2)(x-1)(x-4)\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y=2(x+2)(x-1)(x-4)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i know that the answer is 2x^3 -6x^2 -12x +16 but how do i get that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Those zeros (-2, 1, 4), when plugged into the x's, should make the polynomial 0. You get that by multiplying 2 with (x+2) with (x-1) with (x-4).

OpenStudy (amistre64):

do you understand what it means to BE a zero of a polynomial?
