Solve the quadratic equation: t^2/20+8=15 Show work? My answer was t=+-2 sqrt. 73

OpenStudy (radar):

\[t ^{2}/20=7\]\[t^{2}=140\]\[t=\sqrt{140}=2\sqrt{35}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[It's \not: t= \pm 2\sqrt{35}?\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's not ^^

OpenStudy (radar):

Yes

OpenStudy (radar):

The roots of 35 would be a positive and a negative

OpenStudy (anonymous):

+- before the 2? or Sqrt. 35?

OpenStudy (radar):

I would put them prior to the 2 so it could not be confused (thinking you meant to add or subtract the square root of 35. It is a product not a sum.

OpenStudy (radar):

\[\pm2\sqrt{35}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:D :D Thanks !

OpenStudy (radar):

You're welcome and thanks for the medal.
