What is the function of phospholipids

OpenStudy (nebi):

The usual phospholipid that we encounter is those found in the cell membrane, namely the membrane phospholipid. They are the predominant lipids of cell membrane. They can act as: 1) reservoir of intracellular protein messengers such as phosphoinositol biphosphate. This is obtained from the cleavage of phosphatidylinositol by Phospholipase C. Phosphoinositol biphosphate is one of the most important secondary messenger in the cell signalling pathway of human. 2) anchors to cell proteins

Thank u I was j

OpenStudy (ookawaiioo):

It also functions as regulating what goes in and out of the cell due to physiological conditions. The membrane is a biphospholipid layer that has hydrophobic region[tail] and hydrophilic region [head]. Hydrophobic molecules such as steriods are able to enter the phospholipid easily than proteins of equal size and weight. It also function to help biological pathways. A signal, protein, neurotransmitter, etc can attach itself to a receptor bonded on the phospholipid and can induce another reaction via secondary messenger such as cAMP. |dw:1317169975154:dw|
