OpenStudy (nebi):

Is the cell membrane found in both plant cells and animal cells?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I believe cell membranes are found in both animals and plants. For sure in animals. However in addition to cell membranes plants also have cell walls which animals do not have.

OpenStudy (trancenova):

Yep, the cell membrane, (as in the lipid bi-layer) is the membrane of all cells. Some cells, like plants, have an extra cellulose layer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes it is because it is part of the nucles

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@princessgirl The cell membrane is not part of the nucleus. The cell membrane is a structure that keeps the the contents of a cell within it, nucleus included.

OpenStudy (trancenova):

@princessgirl and Jonny Yup the cell membrane is not a part of the nucleus but don't forget it does have a membrane of its own :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay

OpenStudy (anonymous):

plants have a cell wall, animal cells have the phospholipid bilayer.

OpenStudy (trancenova):

Jegrego1, all cells have the phospholipid bilayer :) have a look at this diagram http://dbscience5.wikispaces.com/file/view/Plant_Cell_Diagramdz.jpg/48096215/Plant_Cell_Diagramdz.jpg the cell membrane is the thin covering underneath the cell wall.
