OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is the function and the facts of the Nucleolus?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it contains all the DNA of the cell. this is used as instructions to create the building blocks of the cell(proteins). it is often referred to as the brain of the cell as it controls what goes on. it is also used for cellular reproduction

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is the function first please

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it is used for cellular respiration and controls the activities of cell

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You may be confusing the nucleus and the nucleolus, shivam

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no i am not

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay now the facts please

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I was responding to shivam.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry my bad

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The main nucleolus function is production of subunits which together form the ribosomes. The ribosomes are known to produce/manufacture proteins and therefore, nucleolus plays an indirect role in protein synthesis. Out of the total production of RNA that takes place in cells, nucleolus is involved in 50% of the RNA synthesis.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nucleus helps in controlling the activities of cell by regulating the gene expression ..doesn't it ? while nucleolus is more like a brain ...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And these are the Facts ,Dense mass of material in the Nucleus Maybe one or more Cluster of DNA and Proteins Materials from which Ribosomal sub-units are built Sub-units must pass through Nuclear pores to reach Cytoplasm

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The nucleolus is a non-membrane bound structure composed of proteins and nucleic acids found within the nucleus

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is this for the nucleolus

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks I got it now thanks so much
