Solve the equation using the square root method.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\sqrt{x+1}=4\]

OpenStudy (agreene):

Okay, so we can square both sides to cancel the radical on the left : \[\left( \sqrt{x+1} \right)^{2}=4^2\] which gives us x+1=16 take the 1 across by subtraction and boom! x=15

OpenStudy (sriram):

i dont know whats sqrt method but this can be olved by squaring both sides x+1=16 x=15
