I'm supposed to graph: y^2=x-9, so I changed it to y=radical x-9 and I graphed it on my graphing calculator by pressing the "y="'s button, putting in the equation and then pressing "graph", but I am not getting the correct graph. What's the problem?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

because you have only taken the positive radical - theres a negative as wewll

OpenStudy (anonymous):

plot y = -radical (x-9) as well

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do i do both simultaneously?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if you have same type of calculator as me you just type in another formula on the next line

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have a TI-84. When I press y='s I get Y1=, then Y2= on the next line, Y3 on the next, and so on...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok - well type +radical formula on y1 and -radical formula on y2

I'm getting an error.
