Bill Burne's earnings are subject to deductions for social security. To date his accumulative earnings is 87,800. Assuming social security rate is 6.2% on 87,900. How much do you take out for his social security tax?

In the second sentence you used 87,800 and in the third you used 87,900, I am not sure which one you wanted, but this if for 87,800: \[$87,800 \times 6.2=A\]\[87,800\times0.062=5443.6\] $5443.60 will be taken out for social security.
