Could anyone explain functions to me?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-.-

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:p

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That didn't help whatsoever..

OpenStudy (alfie):

You have the cartesians axis, right? Each time you get an X, you get a Y. So given two fields, a function is a law, which given a X finds a Y on the other field.

I just don't know how to graph them. They gave me this weird function i'm post it hold on.

OpenStudy (alfie):

You recall the equation of a line, right? y=mx+q this is a function, given X you can find y (m and q are static numbers) So for example y= 2x+3 Each time you plug a number into the X you get a value of Y, you connect the dots, and there you go, you have your graph :)

Sorry my handwriting sucks lmaoo

OHHH I get it. Thank you, sweetheart (:

OpenStudy (ybarrap):

Basically, a function is a map or rule that maps an element of a set to a single element of another, that's it.
