Are RBCs prokarytic or eukaryotic?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

They are modified eukaryotic cells. They start out as a nucleated cell, but then they expel their nucleus. Their ancestor cells are nucleated as well, so they have to be eukaryotic. Besides, prokaryotic cells have DNA as well, just not inside the nucleus and not in such abundance as eukaryotic cells, whereas RBC have no DNA.
