you have four digit. Lets say ABCD. A have only 3 possible candidates these are 3 or5 or 9. 2 is not a candidate because if 4 digit number starts with 2 then number will be less than 3000. so B has also 3 candidates, such as 2 or 5 or 9 and C has only two candidates say 2 or 5 D has only one candidate which is 5. now multiply all candidates 3*3*2*1=18
