Why is the moon moving away from Earth? and why is it the moon is orbiting the Earth?
The moon isn't moving away from Earth as far as I know. It orbits the Earth because of a gravitational force (as far as we know) pulling it in towards the earth. It's the same force that keeps you on the earth. Because of the distance, mass, and speed the moon is traveling at, it got caught in orbit as it was passing by long ago. It was pulled out of its linear path but the Earth and is now in an elliptical orbit around us.
sir as the earth has higher gravity than moon. so the moon is pulled towards the earth. but due to suns gravity, moon rotates around the earth
the suns gravity is gradually increasing.so (the same).
First of all, the Moon *is* moving further away from the Eath. The Moon probably did not "pass by," as best we can tell, the Moon is a piece of the earth that broke off with the impact of a body roughly the size of Mars. http://www.psrd.hawaii.edu/Dec98/OriginEarthMoon.html While the capture theory DOES exist, it's highly unlikely that it happened that way because of the massive energy required. Also, the Earth has a higher surface gravity, yes, but that's completely irrelevant. The moon has an appropriate amount of energy to maintain a fairly regular elliptical orbit of the size it presently maintains. The relationship between the gravitational potential of the Earth's gravitational field and the energy of the Moon is not terribly difficult to model, and you can get close using circular motion. The energy model will be an average though since several more complicated factors cause irregularities. Gravitational coupling between the Moon and the bulge nearest the Moon acts as a torque on the Earth's rotation, draining angular momentum and rotational kinetic energy from the Earth's spin. In turn, angular momentum is added to the Moon's orbit, accelerating it, which lifts the Moon into a higher orbit with a longer period. As a result, the distance between the Earth and Moon is increasing, and the Earth's spin slowing down. http://www.talkorigins.org/faqs/moonrec.html
