Does anyone have considerable experience with the other CS classes offered? I'm having a blast and learning a lot in this course (6.00) and am thinking of using OCW to replace a couple of courses at my own university since I will be 'abroad' this coming semester. Specifically I'm looking for what classes to take to replace: "Introduction to CS" *this class is similar to 6.00 but uses C++ (maybe I study C++ on my own...) http://www.cs.pdx.edu/course/coursedetails/597 AND POSSIBLY: "Data Structures" http://www.cs.pdx.edu/course/coursedetails/17
I'm doing some research of MIT classes now to see if something is in line with these two... Again, I think 6.00 almost takes care of the first class "Introduction to CS" except that I am not getting the C++ in 6.00... I'm thinking that maybe studing that on my own or taking one of the MIT Intro to C++ classes (IAP) would catch me up or at least get me started? In regards to "Data Structures" I'm having a harder time finding what could replace that class. Maybe 6.001? "Data Structures" builds on the C++ learned in the "Intro" class and it looks like 6.001 is NOT in C++...so again I'll have to figure out a way to get more advanced C++ on my own...
How about Harvard's CS 50? They use C there, it should be a good introduction to the language itself, and I think it covers most basic aspects of both courses. Good luck with finding a good course to follow after 6.00 :-)
What are you trying to say bmp? Don't tell me I'm in for a rude awakening! Lol. I didn't know Harvard offer's classes as well.
Perhaps Stanford's class "Programming Abstractions" as a follow up to 6.00? http://see.stanford.edu/see/courseinfo.aspx?coll=11f4f422-5670-4b4c-889c-008262e09e4e
http://cs50.tv/2010/fall/ here. Harvard's CS50 online. The assignments are really cool also. A bit more in depth than MIT's 6.00, but a great course nevertheless.
WOOOW I love Harvard CS50 I think David Malan is genius
