OpenStudy (fools101):

please help!

hero (hero):

There's a formula for this. Do you have it?

hero (hero):

No. It's not 50

hero (hero):

That's not even an answer choice

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry. disregard me because I haven't had geometry in 7 years >_> also I can't read.

OpenStudy (fools101):

No that all it show !?!? : ?

hero (hero):

You're forcing me to use my Geometry book. But don't worry, it's okay

OpenStudy (fools101):

>.< I Hate Geometry and i know Geometry hate me :P!

OpenStudy (cathyangs):

putting an end to this LONG reply list...it's 20. I'm almost completely positive.

OpenStudy (fools101):

dose this help?!

hero (hero):

1/2(k + j) = m<1 1/2(80+j) = 50 40+1/2j = 50 10 = 1/2j j = 20 So the answer is 20 Cathy is correct

OpenStudy (fools101):

Thank u!!!!! Cathy and Hero!!!

hero (hero):

Cathy, how'd you figure it out without a formula?

OpenStudy (cathyangs):

oh. I have this "pink sheet" (it's actually PINK!) from geometry...and it's like a dictionary for algebraic proofs. I have the official name and descriptions and stuff...all notes from class. Our teacher gave them out, and we got to use them on tests (very easy! XD)

OpenStudy (fools101):

Wow :D that one cool Teacher : P!!!

OpenStudy (cathyangs):

he's pretty good! he used to teach college (he has a Phd) but decided he only wanted to teach and didn't like research, so he came to my middle school to teach us.

hero (hero):

That'll probably end up being me

hero (hero):

Cathy, by the way, you still didn't explain how you figured it out without a formula. "pink sheet" explains nothing

OpenStudy (cathyangs):

oh. sorry. The pink sheet has a diagram similar to that ( that I drew XD) with the "Arcs Formed by Intersecting Chords" formula being that angle1 =angle 2=(x+y)/2, with angle 1 and 2 being the angles inside the circle, and x and y being the arcs formed by the chords, one of which, in this case, is 80. so 50=(80+y)/2, do some algebra, and y is 20. I hope this explains everything
