Which of the following statements is true about the process of succession? Succession occurs differently in different places around the world. Primary succession begins in areas with no previous vegetation. Secondary succession occurs faster than primary succession does. all of the above
all of the above
Thankyou (: I appreciate it.
Succession occurs differently in different places around the world. Why not all of the above? Primary succession occurs only in areas with previous vegetation, so that answer can't be right. It's the growth of life after life has been killed off, like by fire. and the guy is wrong
Okay, thankyou (: I was thinking so. :D But I appreciate both of your answers (:
Secondary succession usually occurs slower because after, say, a wildfire, then the area could have trees burnt down. So y ou'll have smaller plants growing in faster for primary succession but finally getting the trees back takes longer.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Primary_succession It occurs in areas devoid of vegetation
secondary succession occurs faster because of the availability of vegetation
Now I am really confused -_-
Areas that previously had vegetation though, look at the question. "Primary succession begins in areas with no previous vegetation."
After a volcano or wildfire, that's when succession takes place. It wouldn't spontaneously take place in antarctica for instance.
Okay,
hmm... right
Im super confused you guys -_-
but I still say all of the above is true.
Why?
Who me or him?
because primary succession may occur in newly formed landmasses, such as an island formed from a volcanic event
Yeah, true, I guess typically though new land masses don't arise... But that's just perspective really. It's kinda ambiguous questioning. I'm not sure myself lol.
I am going to go with all the above. Thankyou to you both (:
whenever you encounter ambiguity in questions, Occam's Razor is your friend :-D
I became your fan Kainui.
Hahaha cool thanks, good luck.
Agdgdgdwngo, Right (: Yeah, Kainui, Your welcome, Thankyou.
I got #3 right with the all above (: I got number one wrong,, Do you guys want to see the "?" I got wrong?
yes
1. All of the following are likely areas for secondary succession EXCEPT ____. (1 point) (0 pts) flooded land (1 pt) exposed coral reef (0 pts) abandoned logging areas (0 pts) the land after a forest fire
I answered it as flooded land. I got it wrong though. What would you answer this as?
Compared to the other choices, the exposed coral reef (pure carbonate) is devoid of soil and other nutrients required for secondary succession to take place.
So that would be wrong too? Or it would be right? (:
It would be the correct answer for that question.
Grr. I suck at Science -_-
