A basket contains 10 pieces of fruit: 3 apples, 6 oranges, and 1 banana. Jonas takes a piece of fruit at random from the basket, and then Beth takes a piece at random. What is the probability that Jonas will get an apple and Beth will get an orange?

??

i have no idea the answer to this question :(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think it is \[\frac{3}{10}*\frac{6}{9}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i times those?

Jonas can choose 3 apples from the 10 pieces of fruit. Once Jonas has taken one fruit, there are only 9 pieces left. So Beth can choose 6 oranges from the 9 pieces. I think you need to multiply (3/10)*(6/9)
