i need to graph the linear equation x+8y=-7 can anyone help?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

find two points, take a straight-edge, and then draw a line along those two points :-D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

gotta solve it first

OpenStudy (anonymous):

when x = 0, for example, y is equal to -7/8: that is one point you can use, (0, -7/8) when x = 1, y is equal to -1, so there's another point: (1, -1)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if you don't like working with fractions, like that (0, -7/8) point, use another point like (9, -2)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so you just make one up

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you aren't simply 'making up' points: you are using the equation to find specific points on the line, and then using those points to graph the entire line.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so y would be-7 and rise over run is 8/1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

slope is actually -1/8 :-D

thanks
