Choose the equation that represents the graph below. https://www.connexus.com/content/media/456845-712011-82829-AM-2058987949.png Click the link to view the graph.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what are the options

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y = –2x – 4 y = 2x + 4 y = –2x + 4 y = 2x – 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y=-2x-4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thought so thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

shld I explain

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes please because i guessed it was that answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the equation of a line is y=mx +b

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You know that right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

b=y intercept where the graph hits the y axis or another way to put it is the y value where x = 0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can u tell me what the y intercept is from looking at the graph?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-4?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ya

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so how did you get the positive 4?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

where did I get a +4?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh wait my bad i thought you put y=-2x4 but you put y=-2x-4.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok then I take any point on the graph so i took (-2,0) and plugged 0 into y and -2 into x and then you solve for a which is the slope

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Did u follow?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a little i keep forgetting that y is vertical, and x is horizontal. But x comes first because it's b4 the alphabet.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Good way of remembering

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But what did you get when you solved for a?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i don't follow you.
