Explain the difference between resolution and magnification. Which lens on the microscope only magnifies? Which magnifies and enhances the resolution?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well resolution is the difference between 800*600 and 1650*1080, right? higher resolution means more pixel per area. you can enhance your microscopic resolution (which depends on the light, obviously) by using light of a shorter wave length. you can also use a better ocular, but that has its limits. magnification is that button on paint, you know it. the pixel size on the screen gets bigger, so you won't see anything at a high magnification if you don't have enough resolution. for microscopes, this means that you can only see a certain magnification with a certain microscrope. the lens can only magnify, not enhance resolution.

thanks :)

RESOLUTION IS THAT CAPABILITY OF A MICROSCOPE THAT DISTINGUISHES FROM TWO CLOSE MICROORGANISM.... AND MAGNIFICATION IS THE ENLARGEMENT OF THE ORGANISM
