Hey everyone I have a question on this equation 3x-y=4. is it okay to use the fomula y=mx+b in a reverse kind of way like this one b+mx=y Ex: 3x-y=4 3x-4=y is this way correct or not? Can you also tell me why?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

They are both equal

It ends up the same

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes. you may use the formula in reverse: as you can see, when you have 3x-y=4 and you add the y and subtract the 4 from both sides, you end up with 3x-4=y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you will just solve for y. subtract the 3x and divide by -1. It ends up the same.

I see, thank you.
